Default Bad tasting fresh water

What do you do about nasty tasting fresh water from the tanks. I've switched to bottled water for drinking until I can find a solution. I can smell it on my hands after washing and can't seem to get rid of it. I'm thinking about one of those Brita filters on the galley sink but that does not answer for the shower and head sinks.

It sounds like you may want to do a little flush. http://www.luxurycoachlifestyle.com/...-flushing.html

I'd flush and sanitize the tank and entire fresh water system.

We sanitize our system with some mild bleach every six months.

If the water tastes fine out of the spigot but bad in your coach then you can sanitize the system with a bit of bleach. If it still tastes off you can try some well dissolved baking soda to see if it will remove the taste.

We always keep bottle water in our coach so we have that in case wherever we happen to be parked has bad tasting water.

* Drain the fresh-water tank
* Add 1/4 cup bleach to every 10 gallons capacity as you refill the tank
* Use the on-board pump to run just enough water to each of the Cold lines -- until you smell the bleach
* Continuing with the pump - run the water enough to each of the Hot lines -- until you smell the bleach
* Now leave the system at rest (several hours or overnight) so the bleach can do its job

* Pump out the fresh-water tank (using all the faucets)
* [optional] some people like to add a small amount of baking soda to the fresh water tank at this point
* Refill the fresh-water tank (adding a few tablespoons of bleach if the new water is not chlorinated)
Done.

Also consider the quality of your fresh water hose -- it should be specifically labeled for 'drinking water'. Regular garden hoses introduce their own 'off' taste and should not be used.

If the stink is like rotten eggs you may have sulfur reducing bacteria, harmless to most people at concentrations not semi solid. Getting rid of it is easy by doing a chlorine shock to your system and water heater and lines. Here is a brief description of them from the University of Nebraska:

On hoses do not shop based on price, you will get junk, try the water filter store or a similar place. hoses from them were not cheap but they still doing the job.
