Setting the rack or Adjusting the valves
On a series 60 DD engine, how often should the rack be set (valves adjusted)? I have heard every 100,000 miles and also to do it when mpg starts to decrease.
Has anyone had this done to their engine?

According to Detroit Diesel, the valves should be adjusted every 60,000 miles on the Series 60. There is no rack per se on the DDEC 8V92 or the Series 60 as the computer controls the injectors electrically.
I just had the valves and Jakes adjusted on my 8V92. It now runs much smoother.

Tuga, if you will PM me with an email address, I will send you the DD document on setting the valve lash on a 60. It is too big for me to attach to the thread.
