Default Where do you park in Flagstaff?

Well my quadruple bypass was a success and my cardiologist has told me I can get back in the coach & move on down the road again! And with the good doctor's blessings I'm going to change up the words to that old Roy Clark song "Thank God & Newell I'm Gone"!! I want to thank all of you for your kind words, thoughts and prayers on my behalf. I have truly been given a second chance!

We're heading out West and will be needing a place to stay in Flagstaff for 2-3 nights but can't seem to find a place that takes us! Seems like there are a lot of older parks that are either not able to take 45ft or not getting very good reviews. I found one place in Munds Park, AZ. Does anyone have any suggestions for the Flagstaff area? We'll be going from there up to Moab for about 10 days to stay at Portal.

Thanks for any assistance!

JR

Jim, that is fantastic news! So glad to hear things went well for you. What a blessing that is to be able to hit the road once again in your fabulous Newell. What are the dates you plan on being in the area? There are couple of options, but I know at least one doesn't open up until May 1st.

Ken - We're planning on being in Flagstaff April 19-20-21. I hadn't thought about them not opening until the first of May. Any help you can give me will be very much appreciated. Jim

Some years ago I ended up staying at the KOA. As I recall it was hard to get into the spot & expensive. They said they had free coffee in the morning & I told them I had an expresso machine.

I now & have numerous times stayed at Blake Ranch 12 miles E of Kingman exit 66. Easy in & out with what ever you have.

Do you have the route kind of narrowed down? Were you thinking of going to the Grand Canyon or just figured it would be a nice stop prior to Moab. Just thinking that Flagstaff puts you a bit east of Moab if your coming up from the Lone Star State. I know if you are ultimately going up the 191 that you will be near the four corners and there are some other options in that area. That is all high elevation for the most part with cooler temps, so the season is just getting started.

Ken - We're going to Tucson for a few days and then up to Flagstaff and Sedona and then to Williams & the Grand Canyon Train and then over to Moab to be there in time for the big Classic Car Show they have. I'm hoping there won't be any blizzards blowing through the area! But with the crazy weather patterns we've been having you never can tell!

Sounds like you are ultimately picking up the 160 via the 89. There is Railside Ranch in Williams, they have some 30' x 66' pull-thrus. There are plenty of options if you just keep your tanks ready and boondock. You should have plenty of water after leaving Williams for a couple of days no problem. You could check out Riordan Mansion just north of Flagstaff off the 89. They have a very nice truck stop in Flagstaff if needed.

If Holbrook is close enough, we've stayed at the OK RV Park there. 100ft. +/- pull thrus & reasonable rates.

Well it looks like we'll just change our location to Sedona. I found the Rancho Sedona RV Park & it looks like it will work. Also we are not going to tow this first trip out (don't want to push my health issues to all of the tests first time out!) so I'm going to also need a rent car & Sedona has an Enterprise Rental location. Anybody ever stayed at this place? Thanks everyone for your well-wishes and your info! Jim

Actually, renting a vehicle is not a bad idea a lot of the time. Depending on where a persons traveling and what is all planned and so forth, renting a car is a great option. I told my wife the same thing, when we move to South America for part of the year and leave a coach in either Florida or Texas for use here in the states, that I'll just sell our vehicles instead of keeping and storing one of them to just rot away. Car rentals are so inexpensive and you can rent what you need for a particular occasion whether it be a Jeep, or little sedan etc... Credit cards cover the insurance and while I'm storing the coach I'll remove the liability. So, yeah, I like that option.
