Cruise Control
Learned an interesting fact about my cruise control, or maybe this is the way all of them work. I had not been able to get my cruise control to function on previous trips. This time I had my jake brake on when I tried to set the cruise control and it worked, light came on and worked like a charm Is it normal that the jake brake has to be set to on for the cruise control to function, sure is nice to have it working, and works like a charm even on the downgrades coming thru the Blues in Oregon.

I love most of the drive from the blue's thru the gorge until you hit the traffic going into Portland.

John,
We have the 2500 Cruise King, and it does not need the Jake on to run. However, apparently it sometimes looses its mind, Cruise King advised to do a reset/reboot.
-Turn the ON/OFF off for 5 seconds,
-Then turn in ON and OFF at least 10 times,
-Leaving it in the ON position after the ten times.
-Bring coach to 60mph and hit RESUME and it should work.
Seems to work for us, of course had I READ the install manual, it would have told me the same thing
Best Regards,

I also have the cruise king and yes it does act up. I am going to try and straighten the cable from the servo box to the throttle, I will have to move the box further away along the frame towards the diff, see if that helps any.

my 77 coach had the King Cruise and the only time it acted up was when the chassis batteries started to die and the voltage was low even with the engine running. Otherwise it was good. I mounted the control box low on the passenger side firewall with a gentle 90 degree bend towards the governor by the cable.

I will check that voltage Jon, good thinking, I do have it connected to the engine side but not sure about wire size or how directly it is wired.

Keith: it was really weird in that there were no other indications the batteries were dying. The engine started fine, seemed to have the right charging rate. But the cruise was funky; in particular it would just keep accelerating when I hit the "resume" button following hitting the brakes. It also seemed to hunt quit a bit a times. When I changed out the bad battery it all worked right. This happened twice. I have absolutely no idea why it was so, just the experience.
