Default Replacing Our Newell Coach Windshield

Hey All,

We are having our driver side windshield replaced and just wanted to ask those in the know...does the newell have to sit for a few days after replacing the windshield before we can drive it? and if so how long?

Thanks in advance,

JDR

When I had mine changed I drove it home a half hour after it was done. About 20 miles.

Normally its recommended that it sits and cures for at least 12 hours, but 24 is best.

We are talking about two types of windshields here. You have the lip-in the use a reusable rubber gasket and they are good to go right away. Then you have the bonded with urethane type which are on the newer one-piece design, and this type should cure for the day.

We waited the traditional 24 hours. No movement to date.

Steve, did your installer recommend you let your sit for 24 hours and did you they add sealant to the rubber gasket? I have done that on lip-ins in the past, it just makes it a mess for the next time. I'm just curious which way you went. I noticed they had done that on my '78 I think because of sagging issues?
