Default Alternator quit

My 1994 coach with the 8V71 Detroit has no alternator output at all. should I start with the regulator on the rear fire wall first?

That would be a good place to start due to ease of access and cost. Also check the grounds on the alternator and the connections to all of the leads both to the alternator and the voltage regulator. A loose ground wire can cause the same problem.
