Gulf and East Coast Camping Suggestions
The wife and I really enjoy camping at the ocean. Last year we stayed at Ocean Lakes in Myrtle Beach, SC. This year we're going to Luxury RV in Gulf Shores, AL. Any suggestions for more places to go? We want a campground that is actually ON the coast so that we can walk to the beach from our Newell. We prefer to be close enough to restaurants, beach clubs, etc. so that we can walk instead of drive. And we want full hook-ups, including water, electric, sewer, and cable of course. We'd like suggestions along the Gulf and extending up to Virginia Beach preferably but would also like to hear suggestions that include the coast extending up to Maine, just in case we get really adventurous!
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

How did you like Ocean Lakes? We have tried Lakewood and Pirateland in Myrtle Beach but never Ocean Lakes. Just curious.......

We loved Ocean Lakes! It's huge so you need bicycles or golf cart unless you want to walk your legs off but it has every amenity and a lot of friendly people. You'll like it!

What about Florida? I think there are some great beach places in the Fort Myers area on the west coast.
We have enjoyed Bahia Honda State Park in the Florida Keys. Right on the water, but only elec. and water hookups. Nice beaches and a marina. You do have to drive a short distance to restaurants, however.

We only camp at full hookup campgrounds and we want to be able to walk to restaurants.
This year we found Campers Inn at Panama City Beach, FL. It was across Thomas Drive from the beach but only a short walk and was within walking distance to several nice restaurants. The only complaint we had were the bath houses.
They were hot, hot, hot! We would not hesitate to go back there though, especially since it looked like the bath houses were about to be remodeled.
