How much Horsepower ?
I happened to be checking somethings in the RH engine compartment & noticed a tag on the RH valve cover. Among other things it listed "designed" HP 450. I could have bet I had read it had 500. Went to the other side & the LH valve cover tag stated "adv" HP 500. I now suspect I have 450, but what does this mean, or has someone changed a valve cover ?

Gordon, I wondered about that myself when I first saw it but I have seen several Newell coaches that the engine valve covers have different HP labels. My drivers side, like yours says adv. HP 500 and the passenger side valve cover says designed HP 450.

Fuel related
In 1990 the feds mandated that the engine specs be based upon #1 diesel fuel. This lead to a 20-30hp reduction. So look at the date of MFG on your engine. If you have a 1990 engine at about 25 hp if you are using #2 fuel.
