Default Planning a trip

I have a trip to the N/E coming up in August. Sometimes it is hard to find parks that are truly big rig friendly. Does any one have any suggestions for Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania & NY. Our route is not set in stone so if you have any suggestions that are in a state in the N/E I didn't list please provide. My only requirement is that I can get in & out without scratching up the coach and the park has the normal amenities.

I appreciate any suggestions................

Steve have you looked at http://big-rigs-rv.com/ "Big Rigs, Best Bets"? Ken and Ellie Hamill include site numbers for parks they have personally visited that will accommodate 40' coaches with a section in the back for 45' coaches.

I would post a few of them but mine is still buried in the bay since we haven't been traveling much the past year.

I should have said yes I have the Big Rig book and use the park review site, but I'm always looking for some first hand info from Newell owners as to the parks that they find that are big rig friendly. I have found that many parks that advertise themselves as "big rig friendly" are not--especially in the area of tree trimming to 14 feet and roads that are too narrow to turn. If any one has any favorites or hints in the N/E I would appreciate.

Thanks in advance...............

Most of my travels have been a little further east but I can give you a few goods and bads in the Michigan/Iowa/Illinois area.

Coloma St. Joseph KOA, Riverside, MI - Bad: very tight turns with trees waiting to take out your paint. Site 90 was fine once I got too it but I didn't think I was going to get around several curves.

Vacation Station RV Resort, Ludington, MI - Good: nice big sites, paved streets, nice experience. Site 23 was very easy to get in and out of.

Traverse Bay RV Resort, Traverse City, MI - Very Good: great park, Newell held at least 1 official Rally there. Site 149 (and all of the site in the motorcoach section) are very large and easy ingress/egress. Sites are all back in or head in.

Argosy Empress Casino RV Park, Joliet, IL - Good: no sewer hookup but an OK park for a few days, especially if you want to hit the Casino. Site 77.

Hopefully, David Zonker will chime in. He did the NE this past year.

Hey Steve, I think Matt and Connie (Express1) spent some time in the NE last year also. You might try sending a PM to either Matt or David (Zcasa).

Hello Steve, glad to provide to you the areas that we stayed in last fall. Send me a pm and we can get in touch.

BTW, if you are heading to upper Michigan, you can sign up to the Bay Harbor Signature Resort VIP email and they will send to you a coupon worth two free nights in their highest lot category. We stayed three nights for a total of $75 which is the going rate for one night. Gives you an idea of how exclusive it is. From there, it is an easy day trip to Traverse City and Mackinaw Island, which is a must see. It has the only State Highway in the entire Nation that doesn't allow cars to be driven on it and is 8 miles around. Easy bike ride and quite enjoyable. David

That reminds me. All of you new Newell owners really need to call Newell and register! They send out a newsletter occasionally, and I just got a letter from them about the Bay Harbor Resort (who Newell endorses) with the 2 nights free offer.
