Tom, I have a mattress on plywood. It's the original from 88 and it is the most comfortable bed we have ever slept on. Newell sure makes them well and it has no sags or problems.

Mattress with a memory foam topper. Almost as comfortable as the Tempurpedic at home.

Tom,
I may be wrong, but I think Newell uses a single piece of high density foam for the mattress. No box springs.
