Newell Rally: Fort Worth April 29th through May 3rd 2013
Posted by Daniel on 03 Dec 2012

Fort Worth was once a rough-and-tumble frontier town, dusty and lawless, home to the brave and the brawling, the soldier, the frontiersman, and the outlaw. Today, Fort Worth is the one of the largest cities in Texas and the 16th-largest city in the United States. It’s a destination that shines with the results of its downtown revitalization and urban renewal while it has retained a rich pride in its unique Western heritage.

We are pleased to announce that we will be gathering in Fort Worth, Texas next Spring for a Wild West good time in the heart of this exciting city. We have found a truly incredibly convenient place to site our rally, the Will Rogers Memorial Center located right in the heart of the Fort Worth Cultural District. The venue was designed to attract and host large events such as livestock shows, conventions, and concerts. We will enjoy a large paved VIP RV area with full-hookups, available to groups by reservation only. This location will provide a perfect home base, just minutes from the action of downtown Fort Worth and the activities we will enjoy.

With so much to do in the Fort Worth area, it is easy to fill an agenda with interesting sites and great food. We will start our week of fun with an evening at one of Fort Worth’s star attractions, the famous Billy Bob’s, the world’s largest honky-tonk club. At Billy Bob’s, we will be treated to an evening that would make Merle Haggard proud. Beginning with a cocktail party in our own private saloon, we will mingle amongst the memorabilia of cowboys and the Old West. We will move on to the adjacent arena where we will be treated to a thrilling bull riding show sure to get your blood pumping. We will then head back to our Newell saloon to enjoy a Texas BBQ fit for an oil barren. We will conclude our evening with some good ole country music, including some two-stepping if that’s your thing.

Another highlight of our rally will be a visit to the U.S. Bureau of Printing and Engraving. This facility is one of only two in the U.S. currently printing money. We will view the operation from an elevated walkway allowing a bird’s eye view of the process of making our currency. The museum also includes two floors of interactive exhibits and displays showcasing the history of currency and the intricacies of the printing process.

If you are a fan of The Food Network, Tim Love may be familiar to you. The Fort Worth native is known as much for his freewheeling personality as his signature urban western cuisine. As chef and owner of The Lonesome Dove Western Bistro and The Love Shack, his inspired and innovative dishes have earned critical and popular acclaim. He also happens to be an old friend of our new member of the Newell management team, Grant Kernan. So we expect some special treatment while dining at Tim’s wonderful restaurant.

As a finale, we will enjoy a private function in one of the city’s most beautiful spots, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. The architecture alone is enough to take your breath away, let alone the stunning pieces inside. We will be allowed to tour the museum at our leisure and then enjoy cocktails and dinner in this amazing setting.
We are currently finalizing all the details and will get that information out to you as soon as possible. We hope you will mark this rally on your calendar and join us in Fort Worth in April!

Is anyone else here thinking about going to Ft. Worth? Looks like we will be able to make it.
