Default air tank drain pull valve

hi all,

there has been some discussion on putting an air brake tank drain valve that has a cable on it to drain by pulling the cable rather than crawling underneath.

all of the ones i have found are only rated to 120psi and my system blows off in the mid 120's.

any guidance here from the experts?

Tom, check with Leo and if he don't have them I bet he knows where to get them. I would expect that they have them on his buses.
If he don't have them let me know and I will get them for you.

i can find a number of them and they are relatively cheap. but every single one is 120psi. i know there is alot of guardbanding on specs, so i suspect they would be ok since they are designed for kenworths etc.

but i will check with leo on this as well.

A couple of days ago I drained all of my air tanks and the top front one had water, the lower front and rear were completely dry. The last time I drained them was in January while I was in Arizona.
My air system is very tight and after I pulled the releif valves I noticed that the air preasure was slowing dropping. I went back under and pulled them from the other direction which sloved my problem. These valves can get crusty from debris accruing on them from traveling on wet and dirty roads and just a little crumb of something can cause them to not go all the way back to a solid setting.
Just a maintainance tip for anyone concerned with the air tanks. Wet tanks can cause rust at the weld seams and problems with check valves and other air operated equipment throughout the coach.

today i had the pull drain valves put in the 3 air tanks. i ran the cables into the bays in front of the rear wheel and behind the front wheel on the passenger side. they work great. used an existing hole for the front two tanks and had to drill a hole and put a grommet in the rear bay.

the front two tanks had pitcocks on them and the rear tank had an auto water drain that didnt work.

i also put new checkvalves in the two front air brake tanks.

all is well.
