Norcold fridge won't switch over to propane from electric!

My refrigerator is having a problem starting up on the electric hookup, and I want to know if I can bypass/disconnect any of the other ways it will run, and just have it go directly to the electric outlet at the plug in. I feel the problem I am having getting it to run is not with the electric, but either at the switch to choose electric. or propane, or in some other connection.
