Default 30 amp, which leg?

I know our Newells are all somewhat different but I figured this should be the same in all.
If you're plugged into 30amp service with an adaptor which leg is powered, L1 or L2?
I'm just wondering if and when I only have 30amp available what will work.
Thank.

On our '82 it uses the 30 Amps to power both legs. You should also carry a spare replacement plug if you can. I have found that when using 30 amps one of the legs does get hot and discolored. Once it actually began to melt the plug and that is why I carry a spare. The problem was their receptacle and when replaced all was well but I did have to polish that blade on my plug.

That sounds promising. I have no problem running only 1 a/c or heater at a time to limit the amps. Knowing that everything has the ability to run is nice.

Forest, CAMCO makes an adapter that allows you to plug into the normal 30amp receptacle, and also utilize the often present 15-20amp receptacle to increase the amps up to 50, which allows you to run much more. I have one, and have used it, and it works well!
