Default Back up camera

I have a Total vision camera on my coach that is giving me trouble. It starts flickering and getting darker and eventually will go out. Then it will come back on and work fine for a few miles and then do it again. I had this same problem last year and Newell replaced the camera. Worked fine until last week. The weird thing is when it starts flickering you can't turn the camera off or adjust the angle. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Mike,

This guy down in Baton Rouge is really good with RV camera problems.

Mike,

I think you need to make a good deal on that shoddy old Newell to one of us grease monkeys, and go buy you a new one. You shouldn't have to deal with issues like that. :-)

Seriously, that sounds like an electrical connection issue to me, somewhere between the control head and the camera. I would check the connections at both ends, camera and display. Clean them with contact cleaner and reassemble.

Is is correlated with wet weather in any way? warm or cool ambient temperatures?

Does it reset if you turn off the ignition? If so, it may be the brain in the display unit.

Do you have side cameras? Do they go on the fritz also, or just the rear view?

Is it kaput right now? If so, then you have a better chance of diagnosing the problem, that if it continues intermittent behavior.

Talked to the factory today and they thought it would be the brain unit was sending too much voltage to the camera and messing the camera up. Sounds like a ground to me. Tuga, I will get in touch with your guy and see what he says. Thanks for the help, Mike
