Default Why i bought a Newell

I started researching motorhomes a couple of years ago. I've had a couple of travel trailers, mostly parked at some property we owned. Had a National Seabreeze 34' for a few years. That was long enough to know that I wanted a better motorhome for when I would retire. I started looking at Bluebirds and came close to buying one. But kept hearing about Newells. Met Tuga in Houma and was very impressed with the quality. Lurked on this board for quite a while reading as much as I could. I came to the conclusion that Newells were at least if not better than Bluebirds but that they were better engineered and easier to maintain.
Of course finding a used Newell was not as easy as finding a comparable Bluebird. Newells seemed to be about $20k or more than Bluebirds and not as many for sale. Persistence paid off and I found #337 at Parliament coach, my wife and I flew up one weekend to see it and flew up the next weekend to pick it up.
After having it for a couple of weeks and going through it I haven't found any big problems just a couple of small ones that have been easy to fix. As I've been exploring the coach I've been pleasantly surprised to see how accessible the systems are. Also having the factory still around is and was one of the greatest features of Newells. Of course this board and it's very knowledgable and helpful members are such a great asset. (I did make my donation yesterday and encourage everyone to help support it)
I'm impressed with the quality everytime I climb aboard and can't wait until we can take our first trip!
I was lucky and found the perfect coach for us at a lower price than I expected and plan to spend many years traveling and hope to meet other Newell owners as we are traveling.

Welcome to the Newell family...it sure has been getting bigger at a faster rate lately. Must be a lot of great deals out there. Welcome Forest and Cindy, and Matt and Connie. Looking forward to meeting you at Creede!

Congrats on your purchase! It'll be nice to have 3 Newells in southeast Louisiana- we could start our own mini-rally!
Let me know if I can help anyway, I'm just learning myself but would be glad to help if I can.
Which Newell did you buy?
We're still not sure if we can make it to Creede.

Express1, being a 1996, the coach number will be the last 3 digits of your VIN. It will be a number greater than 390 (Richard's coach which is a 1995) and certainly less than 441 (which I know is a 1997).

Matt & Connie really have a nice Newell. It is very tight with hardly any air leaks; clean inside and out. It is a 5 color paint job which is absolutely stunning! Wait until you guys see it; it's awesome! Maybe Matt can post some pictures later when he gets a spare moment. He will be very busy in the next few weeks loading it up with their stuff.

We had a fairly uneventful trip back from Wisconsin; had to have a generator fuel filter changed (we didn't have any tools to change it ourselves) but everything else worked great.

The Garmin Nuvi entertained us on the way home. It gave us the run-a-round in Jackson, MS looking for LeFluer State Park. Note to Newell owners: skip LeFluer State Park in Jackson; it is not made for Newells. Stick with the Big Rigs Best Bets book; Matt forgot his cope of BRBB at home so we had to learn the hard way. We did however stay at a neat little park in Goreville, IL, Hilltop Campground; $20 with good 50 amp service and shade trees galore! We met a lady in the CG who was selling earthquake machines, but that's another story!

Congratulations on your new baby.

Is it safe to assume that you are the couple that was with Tuga at the Austin ralley?

Can't wait to see it.

Hello again, Matt. Good job on finding a great Newell. I remember visiting with you in Austin. Would be a lot of fun if you could bring it to Creede. BTW, the latest Newell owner always hosts the first happy hour for all at any mini-rally. lol. We will all have a lot of fun. Gotta get Michael there.

Tuga is right. Matt's new coach is gorgeous. The pics can be found on www.classyrv.com. This is a very clean coach. If Matt comes to Creede, I would rather he park away from mine, because he'll get all the attention. lol. Nice work in finding this coach, Matt. It will be fun getting together over the next few years.

The more research I do that happier I am that we purchased a Newell. Still getting used to our full time home on wheels, although it does not travel much since we got to Washington.
