easiest way to clean receiver of rust?
Hi All,
What's the best way to get rust out of our receiver? It seems to be harder to get the hitch in each time and lubrication doesn't seem to help.
Thanks

Once you get it cleaned use either a marine grease designed for trailer bearings or never seize. That should last longer than regular grease.

Just get some naval jelly (rust remover) and coat the receiver real good. Let it set for a half hour or so and rinse it. That should remove all or at least a majority of the rust. Next put a light coating of grease inside to help reduce the introduction of more rust.

I'm Curious here, why even bother rinsing it out?
