Replacing gen fuel line with hard line

I have read about others replacing cracked/ damaged generator fuel lines. They used the rubber stuff. Someone else suggested hard line with rubber sections at the ends.

Has anyone done this? I think it would be an outstanding mod, but Im not sure on sizes, materials, etc. Should be safer than the rubber lines- isnt that whats on cars these days?

Much of my service work is done by a friend who has a truck repair shop. He recommended a hard flexible plastic-like material..similar to air brake hose. It doesnt abraid easily and is very durable.
