Does anyone use a portable water softener?

If you do how do you like it? Is is a pain or more than worth the effort. What brand are you using. I was looking a brand called On the GO. Uses a pound of table salt to soften 300-700 gallons depending on the hardness of water. We live fulltime in our RV that is the reason for asking.

While I was fulltiming, I purchased a portable unit from Camping World, and used it to fill my water tank whenever we camped in areas with very hard water. It definitely made a difference

I use the TravelSoft from Camping World also. It helps if the water is hard. The harder the water the more rock salt it uses. I get about 10 days out of 6 pounds of rock salt with moderately hard water.
