Every so often I would find a small gray plastic looking flake in my drink with the ice cubes. If this has ever happened to you, read on........
The flakes were coming from the coating on the ice cube tray in my Amana Model SBD21VE. Well, just over a hundred bucks and an hour of effort and that problem is put to bed for a few years anyway.
I purchased a new ice maker from www.partselect.com (http://www.partselect.com)
It was their P/N PS2121513 and when ordered Thursday evening turned up on my porch on the following Saturday for a total cost of $108.06
There is a difference between the one ordered and the one in my Amana and it just involves the little piece of plastic that interfaces with the hose bringing the water into the ice maker. I just disassembled the old one and the new one and swapped the piece of plastic. You can see how the two parts of slightly different in the attached images. Hope this helps some else down the road.
