The head gasket is are leaking on the right hand side about 4 inches from the front... the idle is a little off, but after rpms get up it evens out and then runs ok. Can I just remove the head and install a new head gasket and new head bolts? Or is it time for a complete redo? Thanks in advance…

I think you need an opinion from a Detroit Diesel dealer. They can inspect the engine up close and personal. Depending on their answer you can buy the parts directly from them and proceed from there.
