I was chatting with my tire guy who gets me my tires on all my other vehicles and he told me that he can get me Coopers. I forget the specific model. Of course I've heard of Cooper but don't know the quality, are they good, bad or in between?

In general what does it cost to replace all tires? Although I have an account with these guys I'm thinking I'll be doing it in pairs over time while I do other work & updates.

Should I go 11 x 22.5 or 12 x 22.5? The 11's are significantly cheaper!

Twins,

Are you sure they are 22.5s; I would guess they are 11R24.5

I could be wrong but maybe it is worth double checking!

11R24.5 is a very common tire size; they can be found at almost any truck stop on the interstates. I have 6 of them on my rear and I love them. Fronts are 315/80R22.5 - they are more expensive.

Tuga,

The tires are 22.5 at least that's what came on the newell when it was purchased.

Twins, why stake your safety on a tire brand where the quality is unknown. Michelins are a know quality and preferred by the majority of coach owners. If you ever blow a front tire, you will appreciate the opinion that safety and reputation is more important than price. I blew two Toyo front tires, one at 70MPH. Obviously, i will only run Michelins.

The Tires on our '82 are 11R22.5. These are more of a standard truck and bus size from that time. The newer coaches do use different tire sizes than we do. As far as the correct width of the tire that would depend on the Rim. We have ALCOAs and the size is stamped on them, sorry but I do not remember the size.
I know of at least one other guy running COOPER Tires and he has been happy with them. Our tires should be changed every 5-7 years just because.
Here is a link to a discussion that I started when I was buying tires. I decided on GOOD YEAR but you will see that there are many different opinions.

I have run Cooper tires on my cars and pickups with great success, I have not tried them on my Newell...yet.

I believe Newell's with aluminum wheels ran 11R 22.5's from the late 70's up to the early to mid 80's. I had a '76 with stock 20" split rims, a '78 with 22.5 aluminum's and '86 with aluminum 24.5's.

I know the 11R's are a much better price than the metric sizes.

Steve provided a great discussion link.

I've been running Coopers on the 4 drive wheels for 26,000 miles now, and they still look brand new. They will be four years old next month. Nice, quiet ride. They cost around $1,350 installed.

Not a bad idea, run Michelins on front and Cooper/Toyos on back ... probably much cheaper than Michelins all around.
Now what OIL should we run?

this should be fun...

I have had two Yoyos blow out on the front with less than 15,000 miles. Tread separation and the inflation was correct. They would not honor the warranty because I did not retain the sharp wire bodies. Never again even if they were free.

If your putting them on a newer coach don't even take a chance with the weight of these coaches and just go with the King of tires Michelin XZA. And no I don't sell tires!
