Does anyone have a guess as to how many hours a diesel genset will last if it is maintained right.

I have heard around 30,000 hours between overhauls! That was just from a group of guys standing around talking, so I wouldn't put too much credence in it. But they will last a long, long time. Diesels are awesome!

The most hours I have seen on any RV generator was about 6,000 hours. I had 5,000 + on my 1993 Newell generator when I sold the coach. The buyer didn't think much of it.

I only have 3,500 or so on my present coach. If you change the oil and filters they will last a long time.

3950 on mine. I think it helps to run them under nearly full load a couple hours a month if the generator would not have been used otherwise. But, that's is just my opinion. My generator did smoke when I got it a couple years ago, but with a long full load run it cleared right up and has never come back. There is some evidence the fuel pumps may not last as long as the generator, but that is an easy fix.

Most of the RV type generators the bearing in the power head have to be replaced at around 3000 to 4000 hrs the engines will last 15,000 to 20,000 hrs.

I think 10,000 hrs would be good service that would be equivaulant to 400,000 in miles or something like that.
