looking at motorhomes with 600hp and above. I read somewhere that Newell Coach standard is a 625hp cat. Is this true??? Also what kind of fuel economy can one expect to achieve with that engine?

Newell offers 2 cat engines. Both have 625 hp. One with 2050-lb\ft torque for the ZF transmission and one with 1900-lb\ft torque for the Allison. As far as fuel mileage? Not sure. My guess would be between 5 and 6 1\2 mpg. Depending how fast you drive.Probably about the same as any other coach of it's size. Go to newellcoach.com for all the details.

In California with a 55Mph speed limit and cruise set at 60 mph I experienced a high of 7.2 mpg (500 mile trip towing GMC Envoy with a 45' Newell w/2007 CAT C-15 ACERT prototype and 12 speed ZF ).

Worse MPG was in the mountains with pedal to the metal and an average 5.4 mpg.

Engine was new and I suspect mileage would improve after 20-30K mileage break in.
