What are the qualification for an RV park to be considered a resort? Is it the design and amenities or what?

Thanks,

Terry

I think that depends on the context and who is making the claim. The RV park can make the claim more or less at whim. In the minds of some owners that could be a "swimming pool" (with or with out water) and a game room with 2 ancient arcade games and a card table. For me to consider it a resort, it has to be in a recognized resort area or be relatively self contained and have some legitimate activities available on site.

The term is used way too loosely by RV Parks that are just marginal at best. To me, the park should have a significant number of amenities such as pools, spas, tennis courts, planned activities, large spaces (preferably paved), be extremely well maintained and have very good WiFi. In short it should be able to serve as a destination rather than a place that you spend a few hours before hitting the road again.

it all is in the eyes of the campground owner. I also think the area of the country the campground/resort is in plays a significant part in what it is called.

Does a pool make a resort? We have a resort an hours drive from here. It has many many pools, an arcade etc, but no cement pads and dusty dirt roads. Nice yes, but doesn't compare to some of the resorts I have seen in other areas of the country that have cement pads and asphalt roads in addition to the many pools .

Some may call their place a resort but to others it may not be one. In my opinion When I think.... I picture a resort as something jazzy.

Kind of reminds me of a masterplanned gated community but for RV's. Many wonderful amenities like club houses, pools, sometimes dining and clubs. Additionally added ammenities like private cabanas large personal RV parking and yes $$$$ needed.

RV RESORTS are fluff and luxury and they require like others said $$$$. We choose to stay at campgrounds however we also have an older rig so we wouldn't be allowed nor would we fit in at a luxury resort. But that's okay! We sure do admire the new million dollar coaches but that kind of money isn't in everyone's pocket. We love our classic coach!

Most RV Resorts are luxurious, fully landscaped with beautiful views and large sites. They will have high class amenities such as walking trails, golf cart paths, picnic pavilions, stocked fishing ponds, fitness centers, swimming pools, clubhouses. Most are close to restaurants, shopping and other fun attractions. They will also have restrictions like no clotheslines or drying anything outdoors, no yard ornaments, flags or windsocks or signs permitted on or near coaches.
