We are at south padre island, our first destination after retiring. Will be here until mid-March. We have a feeling this is not the place we really want to be as its full,of fifth wheels - where do all the Newell's winter? We stand out like a sore thumb here - gawkers and picture takers - we are quite the spectacle. We wanted the best in coaches since its our full time home, didn't realize we would not fit in at South Padre - Isla Blanca. Please share your destinations. Thank you

Hi James & Carol,

In winter a lot of Newell Owners migrate down to Indio,CA and stay @ Motorcoach Country Club.

Here are some shots of Motorcoach Country Club in Indio, CA. You will usually find anywhere from 25-35 Newell's there at any given time from October thru March. We stay down there for a month or two every other year. Get tired of staying at the same places year after year. We still have a home for that.

Now there are many places that fellow Newell owners hang out and they are in Florida, Texas, Arizona and California during the winter months. We also have shared time with a handful of Prevost owners whom we have a lot of fun with.

We are currently at Aztec resorts just near Fort Lauderdale, FL and any members around here are welcomed to stop by and visit. We'll be here for another two weeks and then heading up coast to another resort to visit with friends during most of February. There are probably a couple hundred or more Newell's parked all over Florida. If you need any additional info just let us know.

Here's the address:

Look up Gulf Waters RV resort on Padre Island between Corpus Christi and Port Aransas, 5619 Highway 361. We live on the island 10 minutes from there. We will take our coach there if we need a Newell fix and can only stay one night. Many sites are as nice as some at Tiger Run in Colorado. If you pass through Corpus let us know, we can talk Newell and provide points of interest in this area.

We spent 3 months down there a few years ago around this same time of year. We didn't mind it and got to enjoy some things in the area between South Padre and Corpus Christi. We checked out the Texas State Aquarium and went horseback riding several times. The area is really more family oriented than probably retiree friendly. All in all I believe you will get used to the gaukers. Now you know how celebrities feel. You have to remember that most RVers do not roll in luxury coaches or stay in exotic resorts so most only see these highend luxury coaches on the highway flying by them, rest areas or maybe at a fueling stops.
