i was trying to find out what kind of good and bad there might be with a 6v92 detriot diesel im looking at buying a old newell coach with 120,000 original miles. is there a difference on the regular 6v92 compared to the silver 6v92? Old Coach has a automatic in it Can you tell me every thing i should know about the 2 engines? Also how much horse power do they produce?

Here's a link to an earlier thread discussing 6V92s Click HERE: http://www.luxurycoachlifestyle.com/forum/general-technical-discussion/3801-difference-between-silver-series-6v92-detriot-non-silver-6v92-engine.html

Power Output Specifications (6V92)

775 ft·lbf (1,051 N·m) @ 1200 rpm; 253 horsepower governed at 2100 rpm
816 ft·lbf (1,106 N·m) @ 1200 rpm; 277 horsepower governed at 2100 rpm
957 ft·lbf (1,298 N·m) @ 1300 rpm; 300 horsepower governed at 2100 rpm
1,020 ft·lbf (1,380 N·m) @ 1300 rpm; 335 horsepower governed at 2100 rpm

You should be able to get your exact specifications from a Detroit Diesel shop if you provide them with the serial number that should be located on the drivers side valve cover.

Nothing really bad about the 2 stroke Detroit's except it might leak a little oil now and then. You should also Drive it like you are mad at it :o.
