Our kitchen sink drain is developing a clog and it drains very slowly. It started with the left side and now the right side is also getting stopped up. Are there any safe liquid remedies that I can try? If that doesn't work, what's the process...take the traps off each drain pipe and look there for clogs? Any ideas will be much appreciated. Thanks. Jeff

Try zip it drain cleaner.

Zip it would be worth a try though I've never seen them, got to be careful of liquid cleaners as most drains on these things are plastic (pvc). Taking trap off would be best if possible. If you can take it apart remember when you put it back...tight is good, too tight is broke.

Baking soda, vinegar and hot water.

A gallon or two of boiling water. Harmless. Effective on grease and general crud.

Use peroxide and baking soda. A variation on the vinegar and baking soda method is to use hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. You can use equal amounts of each.

I'm a firm believer of baking soda & hot vinegar for maintance.
For clogged drains, commercial drain cleaners are required.
They do come in plastic containers, so I would think they would not affect plastic pipe!

Thanks for all the tips folks! I'm going to look for a zip-it and try the hot water method. Hopefully that will take care of the problem.

All methods will work the zip it is great if hair is stuck in the drain.
