best way to lubricate the dump valve plunger?

the last couple times I've had to open and close the valves to dump it has been difficult to get them open, then when it's time to move and close them hard to close. what is the best thing to use to lubricate the plunger?

try some silicone in a spray can to lubricate the parts.

guys thank you for the good input.

I had replaced my valve assembly last year but it is getting harder and harder to open and close.....afraid I'm going to break it one of these times.
