I would expect that you should have at a minimum one bank of house batteries (an 8D or a couple of Golf Cart style 6 Volts wired in series to produce 12 Volts DC). My reasoning is for when you are on the road and want to have lighting or maybe even run a microwave. The other thought is to be self sufficient long enough to wait out a power outage without needing the AC Electric Generator.
