Default 1967 Newell Steamline Comes Home

This 1967 Newell Streamline, VIN 8005, has just been purchased by Newell Coach and will be returning to the factory in Miami, Oklahoma shortly. The coach appears to be in reasonably good condition and is highly original. It includes some features unique to the Streamlines and a few very early Newells, including side skirts that roll under the body at the bottom and very wide, "super single" tires front and rear (no duals on the back axle). Originally powered by a 330 cu. in. Ford gas V8, it was upgraded to a Lincoln 460 cu. in. V8 a few years ago. This coach was one of a small number of the initial production in Miami that Mr. Newell sold and titled under the "Streamline" name before he adopted his own name to the product. Plans are currently being formulated to restore this coach, after which it will be available to view at Newell and may make an occasional appearance at FMCA conventions. An informal group of three old-time Newell employees will consult on the restoration.

The May issue of MotorHome Magazine has an interesting story on the Steamline and early Newell motorhomes.
