We have a filter for the drinking water. Usually don't have a problem and we do keep at least a half tank of water but will not fill our tank if the local water has an off taste.
We were recently in Silver Springs, FL at a nice resort for a week and would have stayed longer but the water had a bad sulfur smell. After a week even our clothes smelled of sulfur.
Some people have added a reverse osmosis system for their drinking water. That is about as pure as you can get.
