A bit of advice, try to travel outside of commuter times. I live here and it can be harrowing just driving a car let alone a big rig. The same person that will cut you off in rush hour wold be courteous when they are not worried about being late for work. I use this thought religiously but still have to be alert.
I echo that PCH (Route 1) would not be a good choice, just ask Matt!.
