how does allegro put it - roughing it smoothly!

Well today we removed the valance and everything looked normal. Upon further inspection we noticed the problem.

There is a flat metal V shaped strip that is screwed to the slideroom top. In the middle of that V shaped strip there is a 2" x 1/4" piece of angle iron welded. The purpose of this angle iron is to add strength for the roof. It slides up under another piece of metal plate that is welded to the slideroom ceiling.

My problem was that this angle iron somehow was bent upwards slightly and it would jamb when the slideroom was retracted. When we pulled down on the valance that in turn pulled the angle iron down just enough to clear the plywood.

We removed the V shaped strip of metal and put it in a vice and hammered the angle iron to more of a 90 degree angle. That did it!
