Glad you got that little mystery solved. Knew the signal had to come from the surround receiver or the dash receiver. So, I assume you just did the same thing with your new car stero.
My dash receiver has GPS, but I don't use it. It is DVD based and too difficult and expensive to keep up to date. There is one feature of my dash unit I particularly like and that is the ability to control it without taking my hands from the wheel. I have attachd a photo. I don't know for sure where you mounted your new one, but the overhead location of mine would be a pain in the rear to deal with while driving.
