Q
1271 4/3/2004 7:42:59 AM 4/3/2004 TechTalk Staff TechTalk@newellcoach.com New Tires Refer to our comments added to the message above dated 12/4/04. For tire brands and types where "steer axle" tires are offered, they offer better wear characteristics than "drive axle" tires. However, for some tire types, including the 315R22.5 Michelin Pilot tires currently fitted as standard equipment on new Newells, special steer axle tires are not considered necessary by the tire manufacturer and are not offered. Bottom line: if the tire type you are offering offers a special steer axle version, buy it, as the drive axle version would probably experience uneven wear problems if mounted in front. But if none is available, it is an indication that the tire is suitable for all positions.
