Zip Dee makes one of the best awnings on the market. Airstream, many of the Prevost conversions and Newell used Zip Dee as their standard awning for years. They made the first awning designed for an RV with a curved side. When Girard released their lateral arm electric awning, many of the top end coaches switched to them. Recently, Zip Dee released their lateral arm electric awning.

Having had three Airstream trailers and now a Newell, I am very pleased with the quality and construction of the Zip Dees. Their non-electric models use a different procedure to raise and lower (the support braces are free at one end) than most other awnings but they are extremely high quality and will last for many years. Zip Dee now makes a 12 volt electric model that looks like the standard non-electric model (link) and a 120 volt lateral arm model (link) that looks like the Girard.

If you get a non-electric awning, make sure you order the optional awning travel locks (link) which prevent the awning from unfurling while in motion. This is a problem that plagues most non-electric awnings regardless of brand. Zip Dee is one of the few that has a manufacturer produced solution to this problem. They are simple and work well.
