Not sure if it is the same thing you saw but try
the water thief. It attaches to your hose then just slips onto the faucet. It was designed for faucets with stripped threads. It will not hold up to the high pressures found in some campgrounds and I would avoid using it for an extended period of time but it could be helpful to connect a hose that you were only going to use for a few minutes.
