Default Looks like Newell coach 498 is ready for retirement.

I spent hours looking over coach 498 today, dreaming it would be worth repairing and bringing back to usefulness. If it was newer and needed a little less work I would go for it but it really is best for parts unfortunately. The current owner is pretty firm on $25,000 as/is and knows it's worth that in parts which is probably true but to get it home for most folks would easily come at an additional cost of 2-4k for towing. I got a bid of $600 and I'm only 40 miles away. The other problem is getting the air bags up some how for loading purposes. The transmission pan is sitting in the dirt and it's a clay like soil that is very soft so it could get real expensive to get it out of there. What a shame. Probably best to part it out right where it is.

It has low miles on the running gear, low hours on the gen and other components below the floor. Most all of the shocks are bad on the bay doors I guess from sitting. the tires are all rotted and original since '98. The roof is completely wasted and it has had water leaking inside for years. The whole interior including the dash are gone down to the metal in the floor, I mean there is only old plywood laying inside and it is being used as wet storage for some old foam sheets. The lower bays and other areas have rust just from sitting. One slide might be good for parts the other is ruined. The sidewalls and roof bows are history there are 2x4's holding up whats left of the skin. Windshield and front fascia are toast or gone. Every single window is gone. What a shame it would make any Newell lover very sad. If anyone is interested I have multiple photo's. It would be a waste of trip for 99.9% of you to even consider. It's a parts rig! But the guy doesn't want to mess with parting it himself do to too many projects.
