Dutch ovens can be expensive from $30 being the lower end all the way up to $500 or more for a French Le Creuset pot. When you are talking about a dutch over cost is usually a good indicator of quality. I say buy the best and it will last for years. As far as size goes larger is better in my opinion this way you never have to worry about over flowing the pot.
