Will an HD receiver function as a non-HD receiver
Short story. Our receiver died. Called Dish, talked with a customer service person who had a hard time understanding that our receiver is installed in an RV with a non-HD sat dish, but he finally agree to send a replacement non-HD receiver.
You guessed it! The receiver arrived today and it is HD. Before I disconnect and reconnected the cables involved, will this HD receiver function as a non-HD (only) receiver?
Thanks

Not sure about Dish, but a HD receiver for Directv works with a non-HD receiver.

Okay, Thanks Chester, Hopefully someone on this forum has Dish and can shoot me an answer. I guess if all else fails I can hook it up and find out.

The HD receiver should work fine with a non-HD dish

Yes, it will work just in SD. But why are you still watching SD? Unless you still have old tube Televisions? You can get HD off-air (antenna) for FREE.

Thanks for all the feedback. I don't want to pay extra for HD and in return I watch standard TV.

Over on the Escapees website there is a member who is a Dish employee and should be able to get you an answer.
