Flushing the black waste tank
what do others use to back flush their holding tanks. I have been reading about Hydroflush and king flush. Are any of these necessary in our newell coach and what is the best one if so.

What year do you have?
If you have the single combined tank I find that flushing is not necessary since there is enough liquid from showers, clothes washing, etc. to keep the solids in solution.

During the decade that I've owned my 77 coach with the combined tank that Forest mentioned I have never flushed and only once had a problem. The problem occurred when the outlet valve seeped liquid but not the solids and coach sat for a long time and I ended up with the outlet jammed with solids. Solution: think Robin Williams in the move "RV". I replaced the dump valve and never had another problem.

When I am going to let mine sit for awhile, I back fill the tank a few time to flush it out.

That's why I like to wash clothes when we're ready to dump. Gives the tank a good flushing.

I think the main reason for backflush is to keep the tank level monitor operational and remove any sludge buildup.

We use the King Flush to back flush the tanks. Works well.
