2237 9/6/2006 2:40:39 AM 9/6/2006 TechTalk Staff TechTalk@newellcoach.com towing dinghy? According to the Demco Manufacturing website, the weight rating of the "improved" Aluminator is 6500 lb. You might verify the rating of your model Aluminator with Demco. There are a number of tow bars available with ratings of 6000 to up to (and over) 10,000 lb. We see no sense not sizing the tow bar properly given the choices available. Among our favorites is the Roadmaster Sterling (see www.roadmasterinc.com). Don't forget to make sure that the receiver is also properly sized.

2238 9/6/2006 3:08:49 pm 9/8/2006 jim ellis jimellis@matrixvideocom.com speedometer i have a 1987 newell 40' coach and i am looking to find a wireing diagram for the speedo. It is a stuart warner with 4 male spade lugs in a row on the back side with a separate lead for the bulb. If anyone knows where i might find info on which lug is connected to which colored wire i would be grateful. I have tried stuart warner & newell coach but noone has been able to track this down.

2247 9/19/2006 1:09:19 PM 9/19/2006 Troy Tikalsky ttikalsky@earthlink.net Heater coolant leak I have a leak in the coolant line that feeds the front heater core for the dash heat. The coolant is leaking down the back of the generator compartment. I traced the coolant lines down the frame rail but can't locate them between the back of the generator box and the front of the generator box. Anyone know how to access the coolant lines near the generator in a 1986 40' Widebody?

2249 9/19/2006 2:20:01 PM 9/19/2006 TechTalk Staff TechTalk@newellcoach.com Heater coolant leak The coolant lines are located behind the side panel inside the generator compartment on the curb side. The panel is covered with black sound deadener. The panel at the top of the compartment must slide out first. You
may have to notch the aluminum door frame to remove the top panel.
Pull the insulation back on the edge of the side board so you can remove the
screws securing the panel. The side panel will slide out, and you should see the heater lines in the front frame rail. If you need further assistance, call the Newell Service Department, 1-888-3NEWELL, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

2255 9/26/2006 8:20:13 PM 9/27/2006 Bill wrssr5@msn.com 1977 555 jake brake Was wondering what motor you installed - a Detroit diesel two-cycle or a standard diesel. I have a 3208 in mine without a turbo and right now I'm trying to find what S-Cam brake system will interchange with my wedge brakes - I have a Rockwell Rear-end - I believe it's a L-145. I found out that they no longer make drums for the rear for these motorhomes, that I know of - we have searched. I did find drums that will fit but you have to do some machining. If you have the same setup that I do - it is a 3159 Gunite - this took a year of research to get that number. What I'm really interested in is the year of your coach and if it's a single rear axle. I'm interested in putting in a 6-cylinder also but not sure there is enough room for an in-line 6. My driveline is about 2 feet long, maybe - so I can't move the tranny back. If you could, let me a little about your coach. I tried using your e-mail address to send you a picture of my coach, but it wouldn't go through. My coach is a '74 in exceptionally good shape. Would really like to hear from you. If you send your correct e-mail I will send you pictures of my coach. Hope to hear from you. Have a nice day. Bill

2256 9/27/2006 6:31:00 AM 10/1/2006 Michael Day mday@hughes.net newell coach #437 As long as the voltage meters are steady, your indicator lights are likely starting to burn out. I have several on order from Newell since I have one that is doing the same thing.
I have had to replace several of the various indicator lights, such as the shorepower light and some of the illuminated switches that stay on much of the time.

2257 9/28/2006 5:14:59 AM 10/1/2006 Tuga Gaidry tugagaidry@bellsouth.net newell coach #437 Dean,
I had a similar problem with my '87 Newell and my '93 Newell, and I am sure that I will have the same problem with my '99 Newell. It is only a loose wire connection to the light itself. Unscrew the panel that houses the lights and check the connections. If that doesn't work install new lights. You can order them from Newell parts department or pick them up at your local electrical supply house. As long as your gauges read 120 volts on each leg, you are good to go.
