Default Cummins V555 bad injector (Triple Nickel)

One of my injectors is bad and has filled up with diesel fuel I think. Is there a way to drain the injector? I am trying to do all the maintenance myself and besides a bad injector she is in sound mechanical shape. Looking for any tips and tricks one can provide.

Thank you in advance,
Joseph

Default Be Careful with those injectors

I had an injector that had the tip blown off probably due to moisture in the fuel as water is thicker than diesel, damage can occur whenwater is forced through the injector tip.

Right you are Don. Water is a VERY bad thing for diesel engines. I just had my preventive maintenance done at Newell and they added algaecide to both diesel tanks as a part of the PM. Very good idea to add it periodically. After adding it and driving for a while, you may want to change out the fuel filters. Joseph, if algae plugged your injector, it is probably pervasive in your fuel filters.

I've been using a product called Power-flo-Klenz. Kind of an unusual name but I've had NO fuel problems in 20 years with diesel trucks, tractors, and the Newell. It is a fuel conditioner that minimizes algae, lowers pour point, lubricates, and helps move water on through the fuel system. The company has been in business since the early 1900's. They sell mostly to industrial/farm accounts.
