Default Damage to Tire Sidewall

I need some advice from some of you more experienced folks. After pulling into my latest koa site I noticed I had a chunk missing from the sidewall of my passenger side rear outside tire. The area is about 2 inches in diameter and maybe a sixteenth of an inch deep. I have no idea when this occurred. To the best of my knowledge I did not hit anything but it sure looks like a section was carved out. Is this a SERIOUS injury to the tire? Am I looking at an imminent blowout when I get back on the road? or am I better off replacing that tire?

I would attempt to find a reputable tire shop in the area that
  1. Would give you and honest answer.
  2. Be able to replace your tire with the proper brand if necessary.

I don't consider a 1/16th deep scar to be major on this size of tire. The sidewalls are very thick and full of steel belts. Basically you peeled off the surface rubber.

Thanks for the responses, Does anyone know if damage like this (chunks out of the sidewall) are common on these behemoth tires?

I'd say that tire surface scars are not terribly unusual.
