Yea, I'm back!
Newest stupid question.
WHY? do I need a $3,000.00+ bank of house batteries if I never dry camp?
I should only need 1 8d to start my genny. TRUE?
Any other reasons I need 1,000lb of weight?
ANYBODY?

Interesting question....My coach is all electric. I would want to be able to let the coach set for a day w/o the fridge thawing out. However if your always on the gen or hooked up you probably dont need those batts.
The gen will start with a standard size light truck battery....
I like to be able to dry camp at car shows etc. and have been considering the best options to keep the basics powered w/o having to run the gen.

I've tried to crank with typical auto battery, no luck, but 1- 8d spins it like a top........
Battery cost $3,000.00
1000 hrs of gen time about the same?

If all you want to to do is crank the genset then buy a normal, not deep cycle 8d. I personally would buy two, so that you could use them to crank the coach engine in a pinch. A regular size car battery will crank the genset but it has to be hooked up directly to the genset. There are too many parasitic loads going through the house 12v system

The house. Newell's recently install 1 Ion battery that replaced all 6 house batteries. This the direction we need to move....... Less weight more power.
I bought 3 AGMs and have a wet cell high cranking spare for starting either.

Glad to hear about your early release  , couldn't have been for good behavior 
I would expect that you should have at a minimum one bank of house batteries (an 8D or a couple of Golf Cart style 6 Volts wired in series to produce 12 Volts DC). My reasoning is for when you are on the road and want to have lighting or maybe even run a microwave. The other thought is to be self sufficient long enough to wait out a power outage without needing the AC Electric Generator.

Or, sitting on the side of the road waiting for someone to change your blowout, or whatever may have sidelined you. Need to have a little stand by power in case you cannot plug in for even a short period of time.

Found out today this battery is not for "SALE" it was used in a show coach. That coach was sold while I sit here at Newell. They removed the battery. Still very much beta.
Tonight if I don't get out of Here. Will be my third night staying at Newell.
I seen a lot of action here. Some good and some not so good! Service is currently in overtime operation working till 7p.m.
I am the oldest coach here....But many remember the original owner...
Just getting fluids and filters changed. Also had 3 new Lifeline batteries installed. My appointment was for 6:30am monday.. They took me in at 6:45am. Great early timing.
Then it kinda went down hill.
The driver that pull my coach in Hit the wall with passenger side mirror.
That led an additional 5-6hr removing, painting and replacing my mirror.
However its still not done and here I sit @ 5:30pm tuesday.

Well when you get done there you are welcome to drive 90 miles to our place and park on the pad and visit! Full hookup! :-)

We were on our way: 
I sat and typed a long post, however it may have been pulled? I kinda went on a RANT!
I could not repeat it, or remember it.
So anyway: 
We now sit back at Newell after loosing air pressure about 25 miles down I44.... The filter on the dryer (just replaced about 7hrs ago) failed,
Hey folks its been a long and trying day....there must be another reason we were not suppose to be on the road....

So sorry!! But the offer is always here! We would like to see any of our Newell friends drop in sometime but we also understand when you need to get on down the road..and yes there must have been a reason. Hopefully they will get it fixed first thing this morning and you will have a safe journey on down the road!

Sitting inside Newell
Spent the night in the parking lot.....It was a long day yesterday. Got to bed around midnight. Up early this morning. It was, but should not have been, a surprise that we didn't have air to flush toilet.  We jumped air from another coach parked nearby and motored inside. They have chose to just replace the air dryer completely. Hope to get out and on the road just afternoon.......

Reason for trip to Newell
1st it was in route to every place else we wanted to go.
2nd to get PM(Preventive Maintenance) done.
They supplied :
OIL filter for s60
HYD. filter
TRANS. filter
AIR DRYER filter
Gen. fuel filter
Gen. Air filter
two air riker clamps
Oil only for Gen.
Fluid to refill HYD.
One new see thru hub cap.. I'd notice some leakage.
Extra Hub cap bolts...
3 LIFELINE GPL-8D
I supplied other fluids and filters.
LABOR FOR PM.
EXTRAS- LABOR TO REPLACE TO LIFT ARMS FOR BAY DOORS.
RE-WIRE MY TOW PLUG.
TOTAL COST $4,410.36  I didn't have issue with cost.
You must PAY to PLAY!
HIT THE WALL WITH COACH AND SEND ME OUT WITH FAILING AIRDRYER.
PRICELESS!!!!
Waiting to see where this program ends...THESE GUYS WORK HARD.
either way I'm still very PROUD to own a NEWELL.
I hope i've not forgotten any fact.

Just been informed by Tommy "the dryer issue most likely was just time to go....
However the replacement parts and labor have been covered by NEWELL 
Awhile back we listed reasons to own a Newell.
This is another and very important reason.......

Matt,
I think I follow most of what happened except for one thing. You said you lost air pressure 25 miles down I44. I am under the impression that when we lose air at about 40psi the parking brake button pops and the springs in the rear brakes bring the coach to a stop. This being a safely system so that you don't press on the brake pedal with no air and go crunching into something you don't want to hit. I would be interested in how you got back to Newell with no air pressure. Thanks, Russ

You read my mind! I was wondering the same thing? Also, you can not put the coach in gear when the air pressure is too low.
Does Newell install an alarm for low air pressure or is the light on the dash the only indicator?
Glad you feel a little better Matt. You certainly had a right to be pissed; I would have been I'll promise you.

Hi Tuga,
I reserached the alarm/light thing a little and it looks like all I have, or ever had, was the light. On my list is an item to add a little buzzer in parallel with the light.
Back to Matt - since I am not sure of his coach model year I didn't mention it, but I have two options to get air to the toilet/doors beyond normal coach air that would be lost with a dryer failure. There is the auxiliary 115vac air compressor which is check valve protected from the air supply, and then after that there is a 12vdc air compressor, also check valve protected. I have tested both systems and with no air in the main tanks I can use either aux or 12vdc and produce the air pressure to operate my toilets and doors. Russ
