Your 88 looks great with that new paint job! Well done you'd never know it was an 88 Newell coach if you saw it on the road. TheCarabiners - I look forward to seeing your paint job when it's done. Maybe you can make your own thread so it's easy to find to. Thanks for sharing photos everyone, we enjoy taking a peek at your updates.

Glad you made a thread of your own! I can see from the photos it's gonna be sweet when it's finished. Do you have before photos to share? Can't wait to see it when it's done.

Looks like you reglued your entry door. I'd really like details on that since mine is starting to separate and I'll have to fix it some day.
Looking good!

Coming along great. Isn't it nice not having the fiberglass waves of most other coaches. Looks like some more basecoat and lots and lots of clear. How many gallons of clear are going with? What brand of paint you using?

Things are going well. We are getting 2 rounds of 3 passes on the clear. You know the phrase "That looks like a million bucks!" We could not afford one of those, so we are going to make ours look as close to it as we can. HaHa
The door was repaired with a 3M product. I will post a pic of the tube soon.

We are staying in the coach while painting, and are doing a lot of interior work at the same time. Pics to follow.

We love our coach and are doing all we can to tweek it to our exact liking.Click image for larger version

Here is the door sealant. We were told to clamp it 8 hours, The product says 4 hours, we did it 11 hours. It appears to be a great success. Time will tell.
Also, the paint we are using is PPG.Click image for larger version

I always wondered about having Newell do a paint job.

It looks like they strip it down to the bare aluminum. Do they have paint schemes for you to choose from?

Do they suggest certain color schemes?

I would be afraid I would select something that wouldn't go together.

Really starting to come to life with all that clear going on. Can't wait to see some finished pictures in your personal gallery here on the site.

I was speaking with a body shop today about doing some minor touch up on a dually fender and the shop uses the same PPG Shop-Line refinishing paint. They think it's great stuff and are pro PPG. I was telling the manager I first learned to paint using Ditzler years ago. The manager informed me PPG had brought back a line called Ditzler Big Flake available in silver or gold.

After a total wetsanding, the next 3 passes of clear goes on. We used just shy of 10 gallons of clear.
Tuga, my wife and I looked at dozens of pics of motorhomes, trailers, and coaches. We downloaded or took pics of front, back, sides. Then we used Photoshop to add , remove, and change designs and colors. We wanted something to jump out at us. When it did, we took our idea to the shop.
It has been an exciting, but nervous undertaking, but we feel it is turning out great.
Take your time and find something you like.

WOWZER! that is a eye catcher! Very nicely done. I'm digging the red, black and gold! Thats a winner right there. If you got this done on the outside the inside has got to be mind blowing! Congrats you have a real nice coach now with a really nice paint job!
