Default Delta Bathroom Faucet Cartridge Valve Replacment Information

my rear bath sink faucet is leaking out the cartridge on one side. i have the original manuals for the shower, kitchen, and mid bath faucets but for some reason this one is missing. i need to know what is the model or name of the Grohe faucet so i can get a replacement cartridge.

here is the picture of it.

When the slide bar for the shower head clamp broke I emailed Grohe asking what would fit. They sent me a new one no charge. Might send them the picture and see what they say.

Mine is the same as yours and plumbed directly to hot and cold water lines with no cartridge. My everpures in the water bay filter my water after the two prefilters for water fill. Maybe it's aftermarket or added by owner ?

Imean the faucet cartridge. The one built in the handle. If you know the model of the faucet from your documentation please give it to me

i sent a picture to Grohe tech support and talked to them. it is their Classic Model faucet. the hot and cold cartridges are different because they rotate different directions.

classic faucet

45883 cartridge cold on rt

45882 hot on left

there is 3 zeros after the part number on some sites.

classic faucet

45883000 cartridge cold on rt

45882000 hot on left

the entire handle pulls up and off. then use a 17mm socket to take the cartridge out.

ok....as i took the handle apart, i find out it is not a grohe faucet like all the others but a Delta. that is somewhat good news because the cartidges are cheaper and should be more readily available.

rp25513 cartridge

seat springs rp4993

i will try to post when i really get it done....

ok, it was a delta faucet. i bought the parts i listed above including the seat springs at a local plumbing wholesaler in huntington wv. both cartridges and a set of springs and seals were 33 bucks total for all. to change was simple. turn water off, unscrew the top lid off the faucet with your fingers. then use a flat screwdriver and take the screw holding the handle on out. then lift the entire rest of handle off. then with your fingers unscrew the ring holding the cartridge in. then remove the loose plastic wedge (like the one in the new cartidge kit) and gently pull the cartridge out. hen i used a small screw driver to pull the spring and rubber seat out. then the same screwdriver to put the new ones in in reverse order. then set the cartridge in and the plastic wedge and screw the ring on to hold the cartridge in place. then set the handle on and put the screw back in and screw the top cover back on finger tight.

walla walla, simple and no leaks. i'm good.

For the money it wouldn't be all that much just to change out the cartridges like Tom has done. It is a pretty straight forward job. Delta makes things pretty darn simple. My plumbing buddy swears by them. He will repack a customers Delta kitchen sink faucet for $175.00 and his cost is pennies.

I went ahead and corrected the thread title for everyone. Eventually this thread may have to be split up for both Grohe and Delta

Here is a video that will help some of you see the level of difficulty replacing this RP 25513 Delta bathroom faucet valve (cartridge). This is the same part number used in Tom's faucet above, but a different design spout and handles. Otherwise it should be the same procedure.

As you can see you don't have to be an engineer to perform the task.
