Default New awning

Was visiting family in California last week and the good ol'e Santa Ana winds came through at 60+ miles per hour and ripped my awning to heck. What should I replace it with(Brand etc)

Thank you,
Phil

Sorry about the misfortune of losing your awning. That's a bummer.

All of the Newells I have seen made prior to 1998 (the adoption of slide outs) came from the factory with ZipDee awnings. They are high quality awnings and hold up well.

Hi Fulltiming,

Thank you for the response, I will contact Zip Dee and see what they can do for me. What about Gerrard awnings????

Thanks,
Phil

With the advent of slides, Newell began putting a Girard power awning on for the main awning since ZipDee didn't have a lateral arm awning. Newell continued to use ZipDee window awnings. About a year ago ZipDee began making a lateral arm power awning. Both ZipDee and Girard make a very good product.

Their respective websites are:
http://www.girardrv.com/
http://www.zipdeeinc.com/

I suspect that Newell could get you either brand. The labor to replace an existing ZipDee with another manual ZipDee is fairly inexpensive. Changing to a power lateral arm awning increases the installation cost dramatically. ZipDee now also makes a power awning with has the same type vertical arms as the manual awning and powered by 12 volts instead of the 120 volt power requirements on the lateral arm awnings.
