Default Windshield washer reservoir/pump

On the way back from Austin my window washer reservoir sprung a leak around the pump mechanism. It was made by American Bosch. I'm attaching a picture of it. Anyone have a source for these, or an alternative? Has 4 eyelits for screws to attach it to the wall in my right front bin (where my house batteries are). Your help, or suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm attaching a picture...

Looks like a reservoir that is very similar to a Mercedes that I once owned. Is the leak at a Gasketed Mounting? that would be an easy fix as long as the Plastic isn't damaged. Most Plastics can be glued but you would need to identify the type and get the correct adhesive. Your Reservoir is most likely a Molded Polypropylene or Polyethylene but don't hold me to it.
Here is a link to a Glue for Polypropylene and Polyethylene:

I have even made glues using the Resin and the Solvent that melts it. I have taken Acetone in a pan and added some shaved ABS to make an Adhesive for a Manufacturing Process at a previous life in the Plastics Industry.

Hey Steve....yes it is leaking around the rubber gasket at the base of the reservoir where the pump mechanism is inserted. I tried tightening up the fixture inside the reservoir, and it did tighten, but it still continued leaking. Pretty sure, too, that it is molded poly whatever.

sounds like a new gasket is in order!
the first step would be to carefully remove the Pump and inspect the Mounting Surfaces on both the Pump and the Reservoir. If both are in good shape then you can make a new gasket. If you want Rubber then you could trace the Mounting and cut it out using a Razor Blade, Scissors and a Punch. Use a Punch for the smaller Holes, you could make the Punch by tapering one end of some Tubing or even Pipe. The Tapered End works as a cutting tool.

I'm going to try to repair the washer using Steve's instructions, however, I think I have found a possible replacement on Ebay. It's from an International Scout, but looks identical to my American Bosch one.

That makes sense, remember our Steering Columns are from an International Truck

My washer tank holds about a quart of liquid. I don't understand why they put such small containers in these great coaches. I put a larger one in my 78 but have not changed the in my 88 yet. I will be doing it soon.

my tank will hold 3 quarts or so. i did some gluing on the lid and it has held up. any tank that fits and you like it will work....no big deal about it. mine has an external pump like most do. i took mine off when i redid that compartment and cleaned it up.

later

the only thing with mine is that the 4 bolts are drilled through the metal wall and pretty soundly in there. it would be a pain to move their location.

so i will probably repair mine till the cows come home.

Steve, I found an identical resevoir on Ebay, but made by International Harvester (used). Got it for $15. The hole patterns were also identical to what was already there, so no need to drill new holes!

Now I will need to check to see if mine works.
